Jerome J. Shestack is a nationally known trial and appellate lawyer and humanitarian. Mr. Shestack served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights under President Jimmy Carter, and as President of the International League for Human Rights. He was a founding member of The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights; PILCOP, a Philadelphia public interest organization; and the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights. Mr. Shestack has served as president of the American Bar Association and was the recipient of the 2006 American Bar Association Medal, the highest recognition the American Bar Association bestows.

The Segal Institute is counseled by a distinguished Advisory Board comprised of former judges, law school
professors, and experienced appellate practitioners, each of whom is schooled in the unique perspective of the appellate court and dedicated to the advancement of appellate advocacy. The Advisory Board offers strategic planning to the Segal Institute, as well as real-world appellate experience, moot court participation, and other appellate consulting services. The Board members draw from their vast skills, knowledge, and familiarity with appellate practice to guide the Segal Institute in furthering its goal of providing expert appellate consultation and raising the bar of appellate advocacy.
